Description
The built form visually appears like a fortress wall with irregular surfaces. The facade is a tactile envelope, with an emphasis on its materiality. The structure is made using concrete, steel and vernacular building techniques. The upper half of the facade has an exposed concrete texture obtained from bamboo shuttering, while the lower half is made using Wapan technique, a traditional Chinese method to build masonry with recycled and salvaged materials like bricks and roof tiles. The wall elevations have rhythmic, deep openings of varying sizes.
