Description
The building facade consists of an adaptive pneumatic skin that acts as both cladding and dynamic solar protection. The building uses steel as its primary structural material, which forms a structural framework that supports the lightweight facade system. The skin consists of ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene) cushions that are lightweight, double-membrane, and vacuumed with nitrogen. The ETFE components were digitally designed and manufactured using CAD-CAM fabrication. The membrane can stretch and morph into any geometric form. The facade has sensors that monitor sunlight and control the pneumatic system, making it a dynamic solar shading device. The building was designed using digital design and CAD-CAM fabrication, and the ETFE components were digitally designed and manufactured.
