Description
The building’s envelope expresses a sense of homogeneity and fluidity of form. The seamless curves rise and merge with the ground at different points. The structure consists of two collaborating systems: a concrete system combined with a framed structure. A spaceframe system is used that allows for large column-free spaces. In order to achieve the inverse peel of the structure from the ground to the west of the building, curved “boot columns” are introduced. The dovetail tapering of the cantilever beams supports the facade on the eastern side of the site and contributes to its fluid geometry. The white seamless cladding material consists of individual prefabricated panels, made from Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) and Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GFRP). These lightweight panels help in achieving the desired continuous geometry of the complex curves.
