Facade facts
- Facade summary
- An elliptical, outward-sloping glass envelope wrapped in integrated shading elements, rising above a heavy red sandstone and granite-clad podium base.
- Documented intention
- The conch-shell shape (Shankha) represents growth, purity, and modern aspirations, while the use of red sandstone intentionally mirrors Delhi's historic monuments, such as the Red Fort and Rashtrapati Bhavan, to visually link the contemporary structure with local heritage.
- Street relationship
- The sloped, illuminated elliptical facade acts as a landmark visible from surrounding vehicular flyovers and public plazas, terminating key visual axes within the campus.
- Climate relationship
- To mitigate Delhi's extreme solar radiation, the building utilizes high-performance glass with a low solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) combined with integrated jali-inspired screens for solar shading.
- Window pattern
- Continuous ribbon glazing following the elliptical perimeter of the structure.
- Glazing
- Double Glazed Units (DGU)
- Depth
- Varying depth, transitioning from a robust deep stone base to a sleek, glazed upper volume with delicate screen overlays.
- Rhythm
- Regular vertical grid spacing across the glass panels, contrasted with solid horizontal stone bands on the podium.
- Agra Red Sandstone
- Agra Red Sandstone — Podium walls and base elevations — Honed and textured panels
- Glass
- Glass — Main elliptical curtain wall — Low-E coating,reflective finish
- Structural Steel
- Structural Steel — Ribbed framework supporting the elliptical shell — Powder coated
- Granite
- Granite — Lower podium accents and staircases — Polished and flamed
- Elliptical Unitized Curtain Wall
- Pre-assembled double-glazed units suspended on a curved structural steel frame to create the outward-sloping conch-shell form.
- Ventilated Stone Cladding
- Red sandstone cladding installed with stainless steel anchors onto concrete substrates.
- Dynamic Media Facade
- Programmable color-changing LED lighting profiles integrated into the horizontal transoms and vertical mullions.

Description
The facade is split into two primary volumes: a heavy, grounded lower podium clad in traditional Agra red sandstone and granite, and a modern, elliptical glass curtain wall that slopes outward as it rises. The glazed areas are protected by decorative jali screens and integrated with dynamic color-changing LED lighting arrays. High-performance, double-glazed curtain walls provide panoramic views of the Delhi cityscape from the pre-function halls.
Visual analysis
The structure appears to float above its solid stone base, with the sloped glass curtain wall creating dynamic reflections and changing transparency throughout the day.
